Gun Violence in Akron Ohio as of June 3, 2024: 59 victims, 12 arrests, and too many perpetrators still at large
Five months into 2024 and one mass shooting later, Akron is on pace to exceed the total number of non-fatal firearm injuries the city experienced in 2022.
No suspects have been identified or arrests have been made in the horrific mass shooting that occurred at a large birthday party this weekend in Akron, Ohio.
Following this single event, there have now been roughly as many non-fatal shootings in Akron in 2024 as of June 4th than during the entire year in 2022. Considering the shooters are still at large (at the time of writing), the cycles of retaliatory violence to follow don’t bode well for summertime gun violence in Akron.
